In paris ( since i live there) a 50 square meter appartment cost around 500 000 euros depending on where in paris it is, in my building a 30 square meter got sold for 390 000 euros, and a 80 square meter was sold 3 years ago for 790 000 euros So taking that fact you would need around 1 million for a nice appartement with furniture. Then food will cost you for nothing fancy around 100 euros a week, so 4800 a year, enough money per week for me would be around 500, so that 24000 per year, so a source of income of 30k per year ( not counting taxe and charge of the place you own/rent) would be enough for me at the minimum, over let say 70 years left ( i'm 34) that mean i would need around 3.1 millions minimum to live without working ( again not counting taxe or charge) and not doing anything extravagante. So if i had 5 millions that would be enough for me.
